Crazy week

28 Feb

It has been a really crazy week. For me the craziness was mostly work related. It was just one of those weeks where meetings, presentations, proposal due dates, and answering requests for information all converged into a series of very long days. I did not turn off my computer before 10:30pm any night this week except Friday. Matt, his mom, and my mom really picked up the slack around here and did absolutely everything! Thank you!

Then, this morning we got a call at 5:37am from the alarm company at our store. We went down there, and sure enough the front door was smashed in. We spent the next several hours with police officers, as they waited for the team to come in to dust for fingerprints, etc. We were one of four local businesses that were broken into this morning. They did not get anything more than a few of our tools, and damaged some other property, but we praise God that the damage was relatively minimal. After the excitement of the morning, we are pretty wiped out tonight.

One other big thing this week. Ali started really walking. She took her first steps on her own on New Year’s Eve, but it was not until this week that walking became her primary means of transportation!

Ali’s Mimi brought her the little purse with a doggy in it last weekend, and she just loves carrying it around. She has never seen the dog-in-purse phenomenon in real life as far as I know, but she has definitely bought into that trend.  It suits her too. That little doggy is her current best friend.

Now, we are tired and are going to crash.

Caving to the holiday post pressure

15 Feb

I don’t really like to write posts especially for each holiday. It seems a little boring and typical (e.g. we had a nice Christmas, everybody liked their presents, we traveled and saw family and ate a lot.) However, as I cruised the blogs today, I saw so many Valentine’s Day posts, that I felt I had to put in my two cents. And we did have a very nice Valentine’s Day.

We got up early and headed up the 33 past Ojai. We had the idea that the snow from Friday’s storm was low enough that we might encounter some. We quickly realized that idea was ridiculous, so we settled for a short hike near Wheeler Springs.

Although there was not snow, there was frost on everything, so it was all sparkly and beautiful.

029

It didn’t take long for us to get cold and hungry, so we had time to get breakfast before Matt went to work. Guess where we went!

055

In case you do not recognize it, that is the pre-breakfast crepe at Eggs N Things.

052

And in case you don’t recognize her, that is Ali at Eggs N Things.

When Matt got home that evening Ali and I were ready to have a nice Valentine’s dinner with him. Steak, roasted tomatoes, mousse for dessert, and even appetizers. It was pretty good if I do say so myself. Of course, it paled in comparison to Matt’s Valentine’s Day gifts to me. Flowers and, oh yeah, a new camera lens! Now I can really zoom! I am so spoiled.

While I played with my new lens, Matt and Ali rolled around and goofed off. It was a great evening with my Valentines. I love you guys!

Miscellaneous

13 Feb

I have found when I am uninspired as to what to post, I just start uploading pictures until something comes to me.

So here goes:

This one is just cute – if a wee bit green.

023nef

While I was on travel, Matt got this picture of Ali and her grampa intently watching something. Whatever could it be?

073

Of course.

Is there some genetic component in obsession with computers?

076

I guess it is one of those nature or nurture questions for the researchers to decide.

002

I was happy when Ali decided to explore this basket for the first time. I was thinking “photo op”! Ali was very serious about her mission though and did not want anything to interfere with it. See that bear behind her? I tried to put it in the basket with her, but she threw it out immediately.

009-1

See this sweet, innocent looking puppy?

033

She was pretty happy when I got home from my trip this week which expressed itself in her Mr. Hyde side coming out.

089

Actually, I don’t think her craziness had anything to do with my comings and goings. She just likes to do somersaults into and out of our laps whenever any of us sits on the ground.

Finally, in case you have not seen enough pictures of Nala running, this weekend it had rained, so here is Nala running in the mud.

Needless to say, she needed a bath.

Play date

04 Feb

It has been a while since Ali and Hannah have played together at our house, but we got the chance today.  Tomorrow we are coming to your house Hannah!

003

These two blue-eyed girls were a lot of fun today. We went for a little walk, played upstairs, downstairs, and on the stairs. Of course, the only chance I got to snap a picture was when they slowed down to watch a baby sign language video.

0341

What can I say – this is Ali’s happiest face!

We’re in trouble now

03 Feb

Matt got me a new camera and gave me one lesson in Photoshop.

We’re in trouble now.

Ali did not seem to be feeling well this evening, so we planned to go to bed early – expecting a wakeful night.

Then I got my first lesson in Photoshop.

012

Oh dear, someone help us!

035

Matt must have been planning ahead, because he brought home four boxes of coffee today. He knew I would need it tomorrow.

038

Help! I can’t stop!
